I can’t upload sound from my digital recorder in my new computer, how do I solve this?

I can\’t upload sound from my digital recorder in my new computer, how do I solve this?

It works fine on my old computer. I used the disc it came with to put the software on my new computer but for some reason it doesn’t work when I connect my digital recorder to upload the recordings. Maybe its because my old computer has Windows XP and the new one (both the same brand) has Windows 7.
The software is on my new computer, I just can’t upload it into my new computer, Is there any way to solve this so that I don’t need to use the old one?
