is the weak red light inside a 5mw green laser pointer harmful to the eye?

this was a long time ago but i had a 5mw green laser pointer and it didnt work very will after like a week and i barely used it. i just shined it at the wall when i was bored. but anyway, now, theres a dim,weak red light inside of it. something took place of which im not going to go into but the dim red light (i guess that was the IF) was shined in my eye for no more than about 2-3 seconds. can that cause severe eye damage?
