Putting new twists on old/common names: Boys Edition?
Putting new twists on old/common names: Boys Edition?
This is for expecting parents looking for unique names, or just names that aren’t too terribly common yet! For the most part, I took fairly plain/common names and added a twist or found a more unique name that sounds similar! I’ll admit, some of these are kind of “out there”, but, they’re just suggestions! Let me know what you guys hate/love, or what could be improved!
Westley/Weston, instead of Wesley or Easton.
-Wes can still work as a nickname!
Brighten, instead of Briton.
-This might be a bit too out there for most people.
Finnick, instead of Fredrick.
-Finn or Nick would easily work as nicknames! Finn is adorable.
Hyce, Hisan, instead of Bryce or Harrison.
-I pulled Hyce and Hisan from my family tree, so they’re actually older names! I think Bryce is still cool though.
Bryce, instead of Brian.
-See? Much cooler.
Declan, instead of Duncan or Dexter.
-Yes, people still use Dexter. I grew up next door to a Dexter!
Johnsey, instead of John or Jonathon.
-This is actually a surname, but I think it sounds so cool!
Jacoby, instead of Jacob.
-Sounds much cooler.
Tobias, instead of Toby or Tommy.
-I believe Tobias is German..?
Ryker, instead of Ryder.
-because Ryder is getting too common.
Skylark, instead of Skye, Skylar, Larkin, or Mark.
-this could be considered a nature-themed name, since it has to do with birds!
Huxley, instead of Harley.
-I think Harley is a little more feminine-sounding, but Huxley is much more macho.
Hendrix, instead of Henry.
-Again, just sounds cooler, even if you’re not a jimi hendrix fan.
Lennon, instead of Liam.
-Also sounds cooler, even if you’re not a Beatles fan! Although Liam is still a cool name, it’s being used too much for my liking.
Liam, instead of William.
-William is too old and boring, unless you like classic names!
Peeta/Peris, instead of Peter.
-Peeta was drawn from the Hunger Games series, and Peris from the Uglies series, but they sound awesome!
Draven, instead of Drake.
-I think a lot of guys would love the name Draven.
Croy, instead of Cody.
-Also from the Uglies series; pretty different, but barely ever used!
Thompson, instead of Thomas.
-Tom/Thom could still be used as a nickname!
